“Pull up a chair. Take a taste. Come join us. Life is so endlessly delicious.” - Ruth Reichl
Namaskara!
Dill & Thyme is my online home where I share my passion for delicious vegetarian and vegan food. Whether you are new to this way of eating, trying to eat some extra veggies or have been a vegetarian for life like me, I hope you find some culinary inspiration here.
I focus on recipes which are easy to make(mostly), use pantry staples and features foods from both my home country of India and around the world. Now that I have a child(who I am convinced was an Italian in her previous birth), I am also going to be adding in some child friendly recipes to the mix. I believe in having a good balance in all that we do and that includes food. I truly believe a good mix of delicious healthy food and yummy treats is what keeps us happy! So whether it's your first time here or if you are a regular, I am truly glad to have you join us in our journey.
About Suma
Hi, I am Suma. I live in the beautiful Seattle area with my husband Srinath and our toddler .If someone had predicted that I would be running a food blog a few years ago, I would have laughed off the idea. Well because although I have always loved food, my interest in cooking came a lot later!
I as born and raised in Bengaluru, India. Growing up, I never thought twice about cooking thanks to my parents. However, once I moved to the US and was left to my own devices, I increasingly became reliant on eating out and frozen dinners. It also did not help that my work as a consultant took me traveling across the country. That meant I did not always have great options while eating out. A few years later, I met my husband and we got married. Apparently newly weds gain weight and it was definitely true for me! I did not think too much about my clothes getting tighter until it started affecting my health in other ways. Over the next few months my visits to the doctor increased and I realized my weight and eating habits were not helping me.I wanted to change all that while having more control over my nutrition.
It was during this time, I started cooking more and being more careful about what I was eating. My husband also decided to go vegan 3 years ago and we started eating at home more often. It was in the kitchen that I discovered my joy of cooking. It also gave me the ability to explore different cuisines and culture because what better way to do that than through food! I want this to be a place where people can do the same - cook more in their kitchen, take control of their nutrition and enjoy delicious food all while doing it.
