- 6 cups Water
- Juice from 2 large lemons use 3-4 lemons if they are smaller in size
- 6 tablespoon Sugar
- 2 teaspoon Cumin Seeds
- 1 teaspoon Black Salt(Kala Namak)
- 1 ½ teaspoon Chaat Masala reserve the ½ teaspoon for topping the drinks
- ½ teaspoon Salt
- ½ teaspoon Black Pepper
- 1 teaspoon Coriander Powder optional
Roast the cumin, black pepper and coriander seeds for low heat for a couple of minutes. Turn off the heat and let the spices cool down little.Grind the spices in a spice grinder or with a mortar & pestle.
Add the water to a pitcher and add 1 ½ teaspoon of the roasted cumin and black pepper powder and all of the other ingredients. Mix well. Taste to check if it needs more sugar or salt and adjust accordingly.
Chill in the refrigerator for at least an hour before serving or serve right away poured over some ice. Top with fresh mint leaves and a sprinkle of chaat masala.
- If you are running short of time or don't want to roast the spices, just combined 11/4 teaspoon of cumin powder with ¼ teaspoon of black pepper powder. If using coriander seeds, combine ¾ teaspoon of cumin and coriander powder each and ¼ teaspoon of black pepper powder.
